Where to Get Blood Work Done in NYC
You do not need a separate trip to an outside lab. Blood work is performed on site at both of our New York City offices, so your blood draw, your provider visit, and your results stay in one place. For many patients this means a single short visit in Midtown or Downtown instead of a referral across town.
On-site blood work also keeps your results connected to your medical record, which helps your clinician compare values over time and spot meaningful changes.
Real Life Scenarios Where Blood Tests Help
Patients commonly schedule blood work for situations like:
Feeling tired despite sleeping well
Difficulty losing weight
Hair thinning or skin changes
Irregular menstrual cycles
Concerns about cholesterol
Family history of thyroid or metabolic issues
Starting a new medication
Checking wellness baselines for fitness or nutrition goals
Needing rapid STD testing and treatment
What to Expect During Your Blood Draw
We designed the experience to be quick, comfortable, and clear. You can book a blood draw online in a couple of minutes.
Easy check in with optional online forms
Brief conversation to confirm which tests you need
Blood draw performed by an experienced phlebotomist
Ten to fifteen minute visit time for most patients
Results delivered to your patient portal
Optional follow up visit for clinical interpretation
Nothing is rushed, but everything is efficient.
Understanding Your Blood Test Results
We understand that waiting can be stressful. MRHS prioritizes rapid turnaround.
Many common tests return within twenty four to forty eight hours
Some specialty tests take a few days
Advanced panels may take longer depending on the laboratory
Patients receive an alert when results are ready
A lab value on its own rarely tells the full story. A single number is not always black and white, so our clinicians review your blood test results against the full panel, your symptoms, your history, and your previous results to understand whether a value is truly normal for you. They then explain what each result means in plain language and what, if anything, to do next. If you are more comfortable in Spanish, our team can walk through your results with you in Spanish. When a result needs attention, your clinician can build a personalized plan with you, such as targeted diet changes to help lower cholesterol or blood sugar, and recheck your numbers over time. If a value is outside the expected range, we will contact you promptly and arrange a follow up to discuss next steps.
“Blood work is not always black and white. One data point usually does not give us enough information, so we look at the bigger picture and compare it with your previous testing to understand whether a result is really okay or not. Googling a number or running it through AI often misses the rest of the case. That is why we go through your results together.” — Dr. Xequiel Hernandez, MD, Family Medicine |

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to fast before a blood test?
Some tests require fasting, especially cholesterol and certain glucose measurements. Our staff will let you know ahead of time.
How long does the appointment take?
Most patients finish in ten to fifteen minutes.
Can I come in just for blood work?
Yes. Lab-only appointments are available if you already know which tests you need.
Will you help me understand my results?
Yes. Our clinicians take the time to explain each result and what it means for your health in plain language.
What happens if something is abnormal?
We will contact you promptly and schedule a follow up to discuss next steps and any recommended care.
Can blood tests detect cancer?
Some markers provide clues, but no single blood test diagnoses cancer. Our clinicians guide you based on symptoms and history.
If my blood test results are normal, does that mean nothing is wrong?
Normal results are reassuring, but they are one part of the picture. Some conditions do not show up on a standard panel, which is why our clinicians also consider your symptoms and history when reviewing your results.
Can I interpret my blood test results with Google or AI?
Search and AI tools can be a helpful starting point, but they often miss how one result relates to your other markers and your history. We are glad to review what you have found and explain the full picture with you, so you are not making decisions from a single number.
Can you review test results I had done elsewhere?
Yes. If you have had blood work elsewhere, including functional medicine or specialty panels, we can review those results and help you understand how they fit with your overall health and primary care.
Can I get blood tests without symptoms?
Yes. Preventive testing is a key part of maintaining long term health.
Are the results confidential?
Yes. All testing is private and delivered through a secure patient portal.
Can you test for allergies?
Yes, blood based allergy tests are available.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept many major plans and can verify coverage before your appointment.
