“From the very first visit, they have been thorough, attentive, and genuinely caring. They take the time to listen to my concerns, explain things in clear and understandable language, and never make me feel rushed.”

Why Murray Hill Residents Choose MR Primary Care

Murray Hill is one of Manhattan's most densely residential neighborhoods, home to a large population of young professionals, graduate students, and a substantial South Asian community along Lexington Avenue between 27th and 34th Streets. The neighborhood has a high concentration of first-time primary care patients: people who are newly established in the city, changing jobs and insurance plans, or simply looking for a doctor they can stay with long-term.

That's exactly the kind of care we're built for. At MR Primary Care Midtown, we don't treat visits as one-off encounters. We build ongoing relationships with patients, coordinate specialist referrals when needed, and handle everything from annual physicals and blood work to anxiety treatment, STD testing, and medical weight loss in one place.

Our team includes Dr. Xequiel Hernandez, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician fluent in English and Spanish, particularly valuable for Murray Hill's diverse, multilingual community. Pamela Cameau, PA-C brings specialized women's health experience from Mt. Sinai's OB/GYN division, and Ester Shavalian, PA focuses on preventive care, women's health, and musculoskeletal concerns. All three are currently accepting new Murray Hill patients. You can learn more about each provider on our primary care doctors page.

Women's health visits run through Women's Health Wednesdays at our Midtown office, a weekly block covering everything from Pap smears to menopause care, birth control, and hormone concerns.

For Murray Hill patients focused on preventive health and managing long-term conditions, the American Heart Association and the CDC chronic disease resources are useful references that complement the care plans we build together in the office.

Explore Murray Hill

Murray Hill sits between Midtown and Gramercy, roughly from 30th to 40th Street between 5th Avenue and the East River. It's a walkable, residential stretch with strong transit connections, a mix of prewar apartment buildings and newer high-rises, and a long-established dining culture, particularly along Lexington Avenue.

Patients coming in for a visit often take the opportunity to explore before or after their appointment. A few places worth knowing:

Kalustyan's, 123 Lexington Ave

One of the most well-stocked spice and specialty grocery shops in New York City, Kalustyan's has anchored Murray Hill's Curry Hill stretch since 1944. It's a few blocks from the 33rd St station and worth a stop before heading uptown.

Curry Hill, Lexington Ave between 27th and 29th St

The cluster of South Asian restaurants, grocery stores, and sweet shops along this stretch of Lexington is one of the most distinct food corridors in Manhattan. If you're making a day of your visit, this is a reliable lunch stop before heading up to our office.

Morgan Library and Museum, 225 Madison Ave

One of Midtown's quieter cultural institutions, the Morgan Library houses rare manuscripts, drawings, and rotating exhibitions in a landmark McKim, Mead and White building. Worth a visit if you have time after your appointment.

Bryant Park, 6th Ave between 40th and 42nd St

Just west of Murray Hill, Bryant Park is a well-kept green space with seasonal programming, lawn seating, and nearby food vendors. An easy detour if you're coming in from the western edge of the neighborhood.

Several pharmacies are within a few blocks of the 33rd St station for same-day prescription fills, including Duane Reade on Lexington and CVS on 3rd Avenue.
